Porcelain course - multi-part mould making

Do you like pottery or hand building but want to learn an easier way to make a series of the same shape? Learn how to make a mould and slipcast with porcelain clay. In this course we take extra time for more complex designs and multi part moulds.

During this 8 week course you will create your own design in porcelain, from idea to finish. In the first 4 lessons we will work with plaster, making your model (master) and the casting mold. For the modelling we will use different hand tools like rasps, files, chisels and mirettes. In lesson 5-7 we will be slipcasting with porcelain clay. You can work with white and coloured clay and learn different techniques for decorating. In the final class we will finish all products with glaze, by dipping, spraying or brushing.

You will make one design, of which you can make multiple "copies". In this course we will spend more time on the design of muli-part moulds, which means you can create more complex shapes. Your design has to fit within 15x15x20cm, or have a maximum content of 4,5 liter.

An inspiring and creative pottery course in our studio in Utrecht. You will work in small groups with a maximum of 6 persons, to make sure you get all the space and attention you need. Anyone can participate, no experience needed! Led by Ineke van der Werff in her workshop in Utrecht.
