Porcelain course - basic mould making
Learn the basics of mold making and create you own design in porcelain.
In 6 weeks you will create your own little collection in porcelain, from idea to finished product. In the first 3 classes we will work with plaster, making your model (master) and the casting mold. For the modelling we will use different hand tools like rasps, files, chisels and mirettes. In class 4 and 5 we will be slipcasting with porcelain clay. You can work with white and coloured clay and learn different techniques for decorating. In the final class you can finish all your products with glaze, by dipping, spraying or brushing.
You will make one design, of which you will make multiple "copies" in porcelain. The maximum dimensions of your design can be 15x15x15cm or have a content of max 3 liters. The shape has to be simple (conical) enough to create a one part mould. If you want to make something bigger or more complex, you can join our course for multi-part moulds!
An inspiring and creative pottery course led by Ineke van der Werff in her studio in Utrecht. We will work in small groups with a maximum of 6 persons, to make sure you get all the space and attention you need. Anyone can participate, no experience needed!
